Oh Yeah...

Here is the latest painting for the Asian Art Museum.  It will be sent out in postcard form announcing all the upcoming kids programs.  It was really fun painting the Burmese puppets. I find them pretty creepy,  and I was asked by the museum to find the least scary of the collection. This was not so easy...their eyes seem to follow you where ever you go. I hope you like it.

Nighttime Meditations

Winter in the Bay Area can be so dark and gloomy.  I sometimes miss the east coast where I grew up and the brightness of the snow. Even as a adult, I would get excited to see the freshness of the newly fallen snow. It is so beautiful. I will quickly admit though, that I do not miss the cold.
Here in San Francisco it is just rain, rain and more rain.  I need to force myself to go out and be inspired by what is around me regardless of the wet. It is gorgeous out there if you know where to look.  I just need to train myself to see, bring the camera and enjoy the sound of the rain.  Here are a few pics I took in on a walk down Market Street and my own back yard.
BTW, I am excited to be visiting the snow next month...I'll be spending my anniversary doing a little skiing in Tahoe. I haven't been skiing in about 20 years, I'm a bit nervous. But I am sure there will be pretty pictures to be had all around.

Help for Haiti

Whatever problems I have had this week in not getting motivated or being mad at myself for not getting more work done does not compare to the awful, awful events in Haiti. Sometimes I need look at the reality of the world and see just how small my problems are. But what can you do? Want to help with Haiti? Send a text to the Red Cross. Text 90999 and then type HAITI in the message and send and they will place a $10 donation on your phone bill. Thanks.

Every little bit helps...

2010...It is gonna be a good year!

I'm getting ready to start my New Year now that I have a couple days off work and I can start planning my strategies for my upcoming crazy illustration year. I think it is going to be a crazy exciting year filled with new jobs, new friends and more pressure put on myself to get things done. 2010 will be a fabulous year! I'm excited to start.

My resolutions? Well... there are so the top 3 are:

1. Get a new day job. Something that would be more creative than my current job at the museum and something that could give me more time to work on my illustration.

2. Get bluehour studio to fly. I would love to be doing this on a full time basis and getting more pieces published.

3. Get more organized and ready for whatever comes next. The business class I took last fall was great and would like to find some other classes to keep me motivated. Anyone have any suggestions?

oh, yeah...and I want to lose 10 pounds and learn to meditate.  Is this all too much?

So...Bye bye...to the old...hello to the new year. Wish me luck!
